The basis of Gestalt Therapy is the recognition that human functioning is driven by a biological or socialised psychological need that operates in cycles: the fulfilment of one need gives rise to the demands of another. For example, one becomes consciously aware of feeling hungry or thirsty on the completion of solving a difficult task. When this natural cycle is interrupted difficulties in functioning can occur. This introductory seminar is aimed at people who wish to develop a career, or knowledge, in counselling and who want to develop a broad knowledge of the different therapies before, perhaps, choosing a therapy for specialisation.
