Aim
The aim of this seminar is to introduce new skills for dealing with challenging behaviour in a classroom setting.
Objectives
- To define what challenging behaviour means
- To investigate your understanding of why some students present with challenging behaviour
- Is it the individual or the group? Examples of how the dynamics of the group can be changed to produce a more conducive learning environment
- To demonstrate how effective communication skills can reduce / eliminate challenging behaviour
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this seminar you will be able to: apply new skills to challenging situations, evaluate why some previous ways of challenging inappropriate behaviour did not lead to desirable responses and recognise your own influences during dialogue.
